IT’S TIME TO DON THE TRACKSUIT TOP
By Maybelle Morgan, September 12, 2017
If we say "tracksuit top," you hear "angry football coach," right? Wrong. Once again, the '80s have brought back another relic — the retro zip-up track sweat — and it’s safe to say, we’re sold.
Inspired by early-days-of-rap documentary Hip-Hop Evolution, Marc Jacobs models took to the FW17 catwalks in bold, primary-colored tracksuits, complete with flowing sport-tipped pants and bling-heavy hardware zips. Retro bucket hats gave a nod to the genre's music video scene, while chunky leather platforms elevated the glam factor.
What’s cooler than being cool? ASOS Insider Barbara in this texture-rich athleisure look, of course. The key is balancing softer staples with edgier pieces. The casj element of the Ellesse zip-up sweat (bonus points for the satin edging and dusty-rose shade) softens the '80s-tastic vinyl trousers, whereas the white and baby-pink sneaks balance out the grungy eyelet beret. Bravo.
