INSPIRATION AND ADVICE

HOW WE DO SPRING '19 NEWNESS

With winter firmly behind us and the weather inching towards what could be considered "good," you might be thinking about giving your wardrobe a little spring refresh. If you’re looking for some transitional pro tips, take a peep at how the guys at ASOS HQ are switching up their ‘fits — and showcasing three key SS19 moves (tie-dye, lightweight knitwear and utility neutrals) — for the milder temps.

Light knitwear (easy mode)

Knitwear might not be the first thing you think of when temperatures start to rise — but spring is unpredictable, trust. Make like our Marketing Grad, Josh, and pick up a lightweight knitted T-shirt. Choose an ever-cool striped piece like Josh's above and finish the look off with some classic skinny jeans in a light wash. Peep those gleaming white kicks matching the accents in the design too. Nice work, Josh.

Tie-dye (advanced mode)

With warmer weather usually comes bolder looks and they don’t come much bolder than tie-dye. The iconic design is big news this season and Ben, our Senior Marketing Technology Manager, has embraced the look with festival-ready aplomb. With the bold design up top, he’s opted for some washed-out black denim to really make that detail pop. A lesson in transitional dressing, he’s completed his look with some sensible boots. It’s April, after all.

Light knitwear (advanced mode)

Throwback vibes seem to be a theme at ASOS HQ this month with Ben, our Marketing Grad, giving his look a touch of flower power. We’ve talked the benefits of lightweight knits above and the style works particularly well with retro designs such as this. It’s grandadcore up top, but very much 2019 below with some cropped jeans and chunky Nike kicks. Best of both worlds, indeed.

Tie-dye (easy mode)

What if you’re feeling tie-dye, but not enough to wear every color ever? Well, Matt, our Senior Editor, has the solution. Just check out that subtle tee. Layering is always a good shout this time of year and he’s opted for a trusty denim shirt, a certified spring staple. For an authentic vintage extra, he’s completed his look with a pair of brown cords — very Woodstock, and guess what? We’re here for it.

Utility (easy mode)

Sticking with the layering vibes for Javon, our Technical Strategy Executive. Ditch the puffer and grab yourself an overshirt for spring. Pick one in a similar color to Javon’s camel option above for tapping into the more understated neutrals moment and pair with a light-wash denim shirt underneath for an extra layer. Those black pants make room for the best part of the 'fit — those animal-print adidas sneaks. That’s two trends in one — bravo.

Utility (advanced mode)

To warm for an overshirt? We hear you. With the utility trend marching through spring and summer, the hero piece for the moment has to be the utility vest. Our Content Writer, Steven, has opted for an optic-white option (careful with those coffees), to match his striped tee underneath. If the weather isn’t as good as we all want it to be, go for a beanie up top and some Dr. Martens boots down below, especially during April-shower season.
