3 KEY COLORS FOR SS19
By Steven Potter, April 5, 2019
It may be a little early to start talking super warm weather, but since February and March have been pretty mild, we can’t help but get a little hype. We’ve looked back at the biggest trends for SS19, but what about color schemes? For an easy way to give your spring-summer look an instant update, take a peep at the three most popular hues gloriously suited to the (hopefully) sunny months ahead...

Purple power
Pastel shades in general are big news for SS19 and neatly tie into the tie dye resurgence seen across the catwalks of MSGM, Dior Homme and Ermenegildo Zegna (above). If a full tie-dye boiler suit is a bit much for your tastes, take the same washed-out approach and make like the accompanying street styler by repping a washed-out tee in the same hue. A white jacket, light-wash denim and worn-in Converse ensure all eyes are on the eye-catching color.

Don't steal my sunshine
In a more literal shift towards fashion imitating nature, sunshine-yellow shades featured in collections from Cottweiler (above), Fendi and Acne Studios. With a shade as rich as this, make it the central point of your look like the dude above and offset the hue with a darker color over the top. With denim in all its variants also one of the main takeaways from the men’s SS19 shows, the guy above has opted for another literal gesture and rocked a pair of jeans seemingly made from every shade and style ever created. Big power move.

Fiery looks
With all the bright hues doing the rounds at the moment (think emergency orange and neon green), this summer sees bright colors continuing their dominance over the sartorial landscape. Red in particular was a standout shade, and Milanese brand Sunnei debuted an all-red everything ensemble during their SS19 show. Rather than opting for the full head-to-toe look (unless you really love red), make it the overarching theme like this gent has done a printed jacket. Then, build a subtle accessories moment around it — namely, those bright-red socks shown off thanks to his cropped, rinse-wash jeans. Ideal.
