5 STREET-STYLE LOOKS FROM LFWM FW19
By Matt Glazebrook, January 13, 2019
The holiday decorations have barely come down before the street-stylers of London were out bringing their own brand of post-festive cheer to the pavements outside the London Fashion Week Men’s FW19 shows last weekend. So, with that in mind, here are five of our favorite looks...
Futuristic neon and space-age silver are big color considerations for 2019, but if that sounds a bit intense for your palette, check out how this guy makes his sci-fi color scheme seem positively low-key. Equal parts paring the look down with retro skate kicks and sensible straight-leg slacks and standing all nonchalantly with his hood up in a doorway, it turns out.
By contrast, this fella’s fashion thing is all about bringing classic '50s styling up-to-date with the subtlest of contemporary touches. Check shirt? Check. Big quiff? Check. Blazer, boots and slim-fit pants? Check, check, check. Cheeky, rolled-up jeans lining in a contrasting check? Heck, that wasn’t even on our list but we’re scribbling a big check by it anyway.
Oversized check tailoring, neon pops and outlandish graphics are big deals for 2019 that, we’d presume, work best worn on separate days. Wrong! This guy’s just smashed them all together, then thrown a neutral turtleneck on underneath to make the whole unlikely ‘fit winter-worthy. Consider us impressed.
Another strong, boxy blazer here, this time punked up with an animal-print coat, padlock jewelry and some frankly impractical gauntlet-style gloves. Big vibe.
Subtle, Scandi styling might be in short supply as SS19 approaches, but this dapper dude’s bringing an on-trend pop of day-glo pink to an altogether more minimalist look. Black bucket hat, white tee, (mostly) black bomber jacket, blue-gray work pants — it’s a clean, cool, wearable get-up that says 2019, but make it just a bit less fashion.
