ASOS MEETS THE GUYS BEHIND PAQ
By Lakeisha Goedluck, October 12, 2018
Aiming to change young men’s attitudes towards fashion, meet the sharply dressed crew spreading style confidence through their hit web series, PAQ. Made up of Danny, Elias and Dex, the guys talk how they met and the direction they see their show heading in the future. Check out a snippet of the interview below, and to read the rest (and much more), get your hands on the Fall 2018 issue of ASOS Magazine, available here.
What is PAQ?
Shaq: PAQ is a TV show on YouTube, like the Top Gear of fashion. We aim to create a community for those getting into fashion and cater to those who already are.
Elias: It’s a show "unboujifying" the fashion industry and making males feel more comfortable with fashion. We’re friends doing different fashion-related challenges. We flip fashion taboos, making it light-hearted and positive, rather than serious and judgmental.
How it started...
Elias: Kyra TV reached out to young creatives for ideas. The boys and I came in and ended up forming a fashion show.
Shaq: We wanted to create something that can be digested by the next generation, the way we digested MTV as kids.
Danny: TV is becoming a little outdated. With YouTube and Netflix, everyone wants 'on demand' as opposed to waiting for a time every week for their favorite show.
How did you meet?
Dex: I’ve known Shaq for years and through him and social events, I met Elias and Danny.
Elias: I met Danny in the streetwear scene, as he used to come down to London a lot. I introduced him to Shaq and Dex.
Best thing about being in PAQ...
Elias: Working with friends and hearing people tell you it’s helped their confidence.
Danny: Having a platform to inspire. That sounds cliché and cheesy, but it’s humbling when people say they bought something because of me.
Dex: The fact I inspire people and I’m a voice for the underappreciated.
Danny: World domination. Obviously…
Dex: To keep growing, make an impact.
Elias: To make fashion accessible to everyone. To encourage people to become more confident within themselves and spread peace, love and positivity.
