STYLISH GUYS IN TRACKSUITS
By Lakeisha Goedluck, September 10, 2017
For the past year, streetwear has dominated the sartorial scene. And it seems that the desire to look popping in your PE gear is set to continue, with street stylers everywhere donning old-school tracksuits for every fashionable function. Whether you’re about wearing the separate halves or the complete matching set, take a look at these guys for inspiration…

Side-stripe steez
One of the biggest trends to emerge from SS17, in both menswear and womenswear, is side-stripe tracksuit bottoms. They’re the ultimate pants who can do both, because they serve as a comfy wardrobe staple but also add a standout element to any ’fit. Take some notes from these guys and style yours with a retro sportswear hoodie, sturdy jacket and some OG kicks (bonus points for adding a seriously hype-worthy Gosha Rubchinskiy scarf).

Laid-back look
The humble tracksuit may now be a sartorial mainstay, but it was previously just an outfit to chill in (unless you were warming up on the sidelines of a sporting event). Copy this fellow’s style and go for a matching set in a cozy texture to channel the traditional relaxed vibe, but give your look a smart edge with a structured overcoat in a contrasting color. Finish with some clean white sneakers and a plain beanie in a solid shade to show that you’ve mastered minimalism.

Retro two-piece
If you really want to pay homage to the tracksuit in its original incarnation, make like hip-hop artists of the '80s and step out in the full statement set. That means that, whatever brand you opt for, you need to make sure your jacket and shoes bear the same logo as your joggers. This guy has gone for a fiery-red old-school adidas number, complete with a padded jacket and yellow adidas Gazelles that match his T-shirt.

Dark-colored cuts
With fall fast approaching, it could be time to switch up your palette. Put down the pastels, if you so choose, and go for pieces in black and navy. Try out this guy’s style and pair some classic adidas trackies with a graphic-print hoodie and utilitarian jacket. The horizontal stripes on his sleeves offer a nice touch to both contrast and complement his pants. Real slick.

Skater silhouette
If there’s any other scene that’s challenged sporty streetwear for the sartorial top spot of late, it’s skater style. To channel the vibe but incorporate a street-inspired twist, forego wide-leg pants in favor of some cropped tracksuit bottoms. Layer an oversized T-shirt over your long-sleeved top, and don’t forget your calf socks and those all-important Converse One Stars.
