HOW TO WEAR: TRANSITIONAL JACKETS FOR FW17
By Lakeisha Goedluck, September 9, 2017
It’s finally September, which sadly means that summer’s nearly over and winter’s looming on the horizon. Therefore, it’s time to prepare accordingly — switch out your lightweight cover-ups and update your wardrobe with some serious layers to shield you from the rapidly changing weather. To get you started, here’s a selection of transitional jackets that'll get you right through the in-between-y days of fall.

Half-zip hype
If there’s one particular strand of outerwear that’s reigned supreme this year, it’s that '90s-flavored, skate-ready statement, the half-zip. Show that you know how to nail transitional dressing the 2017 way by wearing a lightweight half-zip track jacket in a fresh, block color that brighten the gloomiest of fall evenings.

To really prove your new season sartorial skill, pair it with velour track pants in a contrasting color, complete with on-trend side stripes. Steezy.

Light-brown layer
When fall/winter comes around, brown is always a hue to look out for. Experiment with textures, and style this tan corduroy jacket over a magenta velour sweater for an authentically '70s vibe.

Don a pair of pants in a deep-purple shade for a ’fit that plays with tones, sitting somewhere between the rich retro palette of Prada, Ami and Marni's FW17 collections and a particularly pleasing display of fall foliage.

Trenchtown rock
A trench coat is always a solid choice when it comes to this in-between period — sturdy enough to withstand a stiff breeze and an (un)expected shower, light and loose enough to accommodate as many or as few layers as you need underneath. Dispel the myth that pastel colors are reserved for summer by wearing a bluey-green trench with a tracksuit top in a similarly soft of pale purple shade underneath.

For extra slickness, pick a pair of cropped pants that match your rolled up coat cuffs, and keep the spring-colors-for-fall vibe flowing with pastel pink cap and sneaks.
