HOW WE DO: RETRO STRIPES
By Lakeisha Goedluck, July 28, 2018
Stripes always look good in the sunshine, and as it's set to be hot for weeks to come, it’s a good idea to stock up on the print. From a casual pair of shorts covered in parallel lines to a nautical-inspired overshirt, here’s how the guys at ASOS HQ are doing retro-flavored stripes for SS18.

Our cultural marketing coordinator Babatunde knows best when it comes to which style of stripes to go for — he takes the traditional Breton navy-and-white stripes route but goes for a vertical-print shacket to give his outfit a '70s dadcore touch.

He teams his piece of old-school-flavored gear with a bold logo-print adidas T-shirt and continues to rep the label with his socks and his shorts. In an ultimate salute to The Brand With The Three Stripes, he finishes off his look with a pair of sneakerhead-savvy Yeezy kicks.

Here, our junior editor Warren is giving off serious Shaggy from Scooby-Doo vibes with his ensemble. On his top half, he opts for a longline striped top in orange for a bit of funky '60s flair and pairs it with roll-cuffed corduroy pants on his bottom half.

Another fierce supporter of adidas, Warren dons the brand’s iconic Gazelle sneakers — a silhouette first launched at the end of the '60s — to complement his throwback threads.

If casual cuts with a streetwear edge is the aesthetic you’re hoping to nail, our artworker Nawal has got the look down to a tee. He keeps his style breezy with a short-sleeved gray-marl shirt but injects some character with his choice of navy striped pants.

Resisting the urge to pop on a pair of socks, Nawal flexes in his dad-approved sandals with finesse. And to cap it all off, he throws in the ultimate road-ready accessory — a cross-body flight bag in a contrasting khaki hue.

It’s a given that when summer comes around you’re bound to spend plenty of time chilling at the park or wasting the day away at the bar. Want a get-up that’s suitable for both? Well, our fashion editor Ben has got you covered.
