YOUR NINE SPRING ESSENTIALS
By Style Feed Staff, April 27, 2018
Let's face it: the weather RN makes spring the trickiest time to dress well. Invest in these nine essentials, however, and you’ll be ready come rain or shine.

A cross-body bag
A favorite amongst streetwear aficionados, the cross-body bag is the ideal piece of gear to finish off your ’fits with this spring. Lightweight and compact, go for an on-trend fanny pack or switch the style up and opt for a logo-printed flight bag instead. The trick is to wear your bag over a road-ready ensemble — go for a track jacket, steezy joggers and fresh '90s-flavored kicks to do the aesthetic justice.

A Breton T-shirt
Rooted, of course, in the French navy, this classic blue-and-white-striped pattern has inspired style icons and fashion designers over the decades. Pair yours with a coach jacket for a casual look that has the added bonus of making you look vaguely like you know your way around a boat.

Denim jacket
Some men shy away from denim unless it's on their bottom half, depriving themselves of what can be a very handy wardrobe item. The trick is to think of the denim jacket as a layering piece: find one snug enough to go under a thicker jacket but big enough to wear over a crew-neck sweater. And if you’re thinking of trying to pull off double denim, go for it — just make sure the two items are at least a couple of shades apart (or essentially identical if you’re aiming at the bolder "Canadian tuxedo" vibe).

White sneakers
Whatever sneaker style your prefer, a clean, unfussy pair of white sneakers should feature high on your wishlist and subbing them in for your winter boots is a great way to embrace the new season. They can easily form the basis of a smart, casual or indeed smart-casual look — the only tricky bit is keeping them clean.

Bomber jacket
The perfect coat to see you right while winter turns to summer, the bomber suits every body shape and flatters everyone. The big shout is which color to opt for. Navy is the safe option, but you could always take a sartorial risk and pick one in red or teal.

A trench coat
For the days when you know it’s going to rain, a light trench will both keep you dry and make sure you're looking sharp. Navy or camel are classic shades for good reason — pair your coat with on-point kicks to add a streetwear twist to your ensemble.

Light-wash jeans
If you’re thinking of changing up your style this spring, trade in your go-to tracksuit bottoms for a pair of light-wash jeans instead. Choose a slim-fit pair to play it safe or go for a skater cut to truly nail this season’s aesthetic.

A track jacket
Streetwear fans, rejoice: for SS18 it’s all about the track jacket. As the weather can be temperamental during spring, it’s the ultimate layer for the season as it’ll keep you dry without weighing you down. The track jacket was a popular silhouette during the '90s, so opt for styles from the decade and stock up on logo-print and color-block versions.

Lightweight knitwear
Another layering failsafe, a retro-style sweater in light merino wool or cashmere gives you another chance to play with color and will keep you insulated when the sun vanishes for the 10th time that day. Wear over a T-shirt and under a transitional jacket for a classic spring look.
