ASOS CHATS TO LUKE TROTMAN
By Steven Potter, 17 August 2020
Now things are slightly more normal, we managed to nab our fave runner-up to model the new Dark Future drop 😎 Plus, we caught up with him to find out what he’s been up to since he left the villa. Check out the interview below, and stock up on some hoodies, joggers and tees from the collection now (prices start at £10!).
Life since the villa has been a real rollercoaster with the aftermath of the show, plus the pandemic, which has affected everyone. It’s not all been bad, though: me and Siânnise moved to London. It feels like home already, and we’re really enjoying living together. Going forwards, I still want to finish my degree and get back to football, but for now, my career has completely changed.
What do you like most about the new Dark Future collection?
The DF collection is so dope because it’s the perfect balance of low-key and standout pieces. I’m a massive fan of oversized fits and utility-style garms, which is great because Dark Future is full of both. I love the logo, too. A lot of brands are using block-text designs, so it’s refreshing to see Dark Future’s script-style logo instead.
It’s gotta be the oversized sleeveless hoodie – it’s perfect for both hot and cool weather, and the ideal lightweight layer for a day out in London.
How would you describe your style?
A utility-style look. Black and stone colours, cargo trousers, a long-sleeve tee, utility vest and loads of jewellery. I’m all about drop earrings at the moment. Oh, and obviously a cap for when my trim starts expiring (I think my healthy hairline has only got 5 or 6 years left, to be fair).
Everyone just went straight to joggers and hoodies, but me and Siânnise are extra AF, so we’d always put loads of effort into our outfits – even if we were just going for a walk in the park. We got voted ‘most vain couple’ in the villa for reason, you know?
What’s your grooming routine like?
I try to exfoliate, cleanse and moisturise as often as I can – Siân gives me a facial every week too. I get a haircut every week without fail, so being in the villa was a nightmare for that. They’d let me get a trim every two weeks, but they wouldn’t even let me get a skin fade! 😬
I think me and Siânnise have quite similar styles – we both love fashion and we influence each other’s outfits. Sometimes, we end up matching without trying because of that. We wear each other’s clothes quite a lot, too. Like, for my birthday, she bought me some T-shirts knowing she wanted to wear them as T-shirt dresses!
What are your biggest TikTok tips?
I would say… have as much fun as possible. Be creative and keep your vids clean. Choose good music and jump on trends, but add some of your own personality and def collab with other creators. I just mess around on TikTok, really – it definitely kept me entertained during lockdown. My top tip? Be yourself and have fun doing it.
