HOW TO TIE-DYE WITH ASOS JONO
By Steven Potter, 6 April 2020
Sat on the sofa thinking about trying something new, something crafty, something more hands-on? We've got just the thing: our skate-style connoisseur and ASOS Insider Jono has created an amazing video all about how to master the age-old art of DIY tie-dying. Not only will it keep you busy for a few hours, it's perfect for your new-season line-up – nothing says 'summer' more than tie-dye garms, after all. Plus it’s a great way of transforming plain hoodies, T-shirts, sweats and whatever else you fancy into something new that no one else will have. Sounds like a win-win to us! Check out the video below and scroll down to the gallery for plain threads you can customise, along with more tie-dye bits (if you want the look without the effort).
How to tie-dye: a step-by-step guide
Grab an old hoodie or tee
Get your favourite dyes together
Give your hoodie or tee a little soak with some water
Use elastic bands to tie the garment in three places (this creates the cool patterns)
Put your item into a container and add the dye – there are no rules here, so go wild!
Add some more water, and then some more dye
Hang your psychedelic new piece up somewhere to dry
Give it a wash, and then start bragging on insta about your new crafty skills!
