WHAT TO WEAR FOR NEW YEAR'S EVE
By Anna Heaton, 26 December 2020
What to wear for New Year’s Eve is a tricky one – especially when there's nowhere to go. But there is one positive about staying in this NYE: the dress code is yours to make. Whether your vibe is on the smarter side of things or you wanna to keep it real low-key, we've got what you're after. Check out some looks inspired by the best of Insta below.

If you're chilled AF
✔️ A brown shirt
✔️ A pair of cords
✔️ Low-key silver jewellery
✔️ Sunglasses (optional)
This laid-back look will make sofa drinking comfy as, but wearing a shirt shows you still made the effort (kind of). December isn't usually the sunniest vibe, but make like Elton and wear your sunnies anyway. Do it for the 'gram.

If you're a smart/casual kinda guy
✔️ An oversized plain-white tee
✔️ A neutral-tone suit
✔️ A pair of box-fresh trainers
No looks walk the line of smart/casual quite like the suit-and-white-tee combo. If you're torn between the fact you've not had many chances to dress up this year, but a shirt feels too formal for a stay-at-home celebration, this 'fit is the one.

If you're all about knitwear
✔️ Wide-leg trousers
✔️ A chain
✔️ A fave pair of sneaks
Not all NYE outfits (especially the cosy ones) need to be all that extra. If all you're after is a couple of pints with the backdrop of Auld Lang Syne, this look will do the trick. Wide-leg trousers are a great match for a standout jumper, giving things an edge but still keeping you comfy.

If you're ready to co-ord
✔️ A jacket-and-trousers co-ord
✔️ A vest
✔️ Gold jewellery
✔️ Crisp-white kicks
Seeing out a stinker with the people who've seen you through it? Good choice. You might all be saying 'cheers' via Zoom, but you can still look the part. Blazer on top, matching trousers on the bottom – there's no better way to nail it.

If you've got a uniform
✔️ A cap
✔️ Your go-to knit
✔️ Chunky boots
✔️ A bag (for going nowhere)
If you don't tend to deviate from your everyday uniform – party or no party – simply go for the best of your usual groove. Whip out your favourite slick knit, a classic pair of smarter trousers and this year's multiple-hit wonder, the chunky Chelsea boot. And, of course, your uniform isn't truly complete without a bag – now is not the time to compromise your vision (at least for a post on the 'gram).
