THE BEST KICKS OF AUGUST

By Steven Potter, 15 August 2019

Sneakerheads, it’s your favourite time of the month: a chance to cast your eager eyes over the very best drops landing at ASOS this month. From the new Nike Vapormax to adidas EQT, these are the pairs that are most likely to get snapped up immediately. So pay attention, chaps.

adidas EQT Gazelle

adidas EQT is one of the many diffusion lines under the 3-Stripe banner. The range includes more performance-based models, but it’s the cutting-edge silhouettes and wild colourways that have made the kicks a go-to for many a sneaker aficionado. These bold babies are an update on a 90s runner, with holographic branding and a two-tone, cushy midsole that’s one of the most overblown in the game. With this much colour up top, opt for a pair of wide-leg trousers and a simple graphic tee that complements the eye-popping colourway.

Nike Vapormax

We can’t talk new drops without mentioning Nike, of course. From the super-popular (and air-cushioned) Vapormax family comes this ultra-fresh new colourway. Sat on a translucent sole, these kicks are a vital part of any rotation if you’re into the more futuristic-looking aesthetic. With updated accents and branded taping completing the look, these Vapormax were created for the classic white-tee-and-blue jeans combo. Colour-matching level: 1,000.

New Balance X-Racer

New Balance aren’t just about dadcore drops (although they do always nail them). The NB-X-Series is a break in their signature aesthetic, coming through with a sleeker finish. The X-Racers above are the second drop in the series, and their lineage can be traced back to the lesser-known 90s runners that aren't so father-like. These are a go-with-anything type drop, especially in the super-wearable colourway above and the ABZORB midsole offers a supremely comfy ride, too.

Nike Air Max 200

Nike are back at it again... Let’s be fair though, how could we not feature the new Nike Air Max 200? Off the back of the React 270 Bauhaus drops, the brand are producing some of the most wearable colour-blocking styles to date. Comfort is definitely at the forefront with this pair – their lightweight and durable mesh uppers sit on 200 degrees of air-cushioned comfort in the heel. Add these to your monochrome look or pair with black jeans and a striped tee and you’re good to go.

Saucony Jazz Original Vintage

With all these wild colourways you might be in the market for a more understated finish. If your everyday palette is more tonal tekkers than pop brights, check out this hyper-wearable offering from Saucony. Part of the Jazz Original Vintage range, these kicks are proof that for a fresh look these days, sometimes you have to look to the past. Pair these bad boys with a beige gilet over a long-sleeved tee and complete it with some khaki utility trousers. There you have it – you’ve completed tonal dressing with flying (neutral?) colours.
