Step 1: Cleanse

Before you do anything, it’s all about the cleanse. Washing your face with warm water pre-shave helps to open your pores and soften your facial hair, offering a closer shave. It also helps to prevent breakouts. Pick up this face wash from Murdock London; the sulphate and soap-free formula will cleanse your skin without drying it out, reducing redness and irritation. Ideal if you’re shaving daily.

Its moisturising formula contains tea tree oil that comes complete with antiseptic and antibacterial properties. Think of it as a protective layer for your face as you're shaving. Ideal.

Step 3: Post-shave care

Even with the added benefits of a suitable cleanser and shave cream, shaving can be tough on your skin. As an extra little step to your routine, Lab Series’ Razor Burn Relief immediately reduces any irritation that might occur. Its creamy texture protects and helps to rebuild your skin’s natural moisture barrier – something that’s lost during your morning shave.

Before you apply your moisturiser and head out for the day, leave your skin to air for a while as the combination of shaving and product use can sometimes get a bit heavy. Not only does it double up on protecting the skin’s natural barrier like the Razor Burn Relief from Lab Series, it has the added benefit of reducing UV damage and other environmental nasties.
