3 HAIRSTYLES FOR SS19
By Steven Potter, 16 May 2019
So, you’ve got your new threads locked down for spring/summer, but what about your look on top? If you’re thinking about switching up your ‘do this season, here's three hair trends from the SS19 catwalks to inspire your next trim.
Fringes of all lengths graced the runways of the SS19 men’s shows, but it’s the mid-length, messy look that (literally) came out on top. From Iceberg to Balmain, the cuts were short and neat on the sides with all the party at the front. If your locks are naturally wavy or curly, this is an easy transition. For straight hair, cop some texturising gum from House 99 or Bumble and Bumble's Surf Spray (plus a ruffle) and you can easily hack your way to flyaway greatness.
We’re talking styling, yeah, but going down a more low-maintenance route is always a win and a sweet look in itself. Take the chap above spotted on Qasimi’s SS19 catwalk. Textured, natural curls are being embraced more and more and we’re here for it, so to enhance what you've got (and to lock in that all-important moisture) opt for a leave-in, water-based hydrating conditioner from Shea Moisture, adding coconut or almond-based hair oil after washing. Finally, apply a styling cream to seal in the hydrating properties. You can rock this look all over, of course, but if you combine with a taper or a fade on the sides, you get the dynamic finish above.
What if you’ve spent all winter growing out your luscious locks? Have no fear chaps, long looks are always cool; it’s how you style it that can give your barnet a 2019 spin. Adding a touch of order to the classically renegade look, mid-length styles with a parting at the front that were clearly shaped with product came through for a slightly neater vibe. For a look similar to the ‘do above, spotted at Off-White’s SS19 show, opt for a lightweight wax with a medium hold. One or two shots of hairspray should keep the style in place and (ideal for summer) out of your face.
