FESTIVAL LOOKS: THEN VS NOW

By Steven Potter, 12 May 2019

Partying, live music, unpredictable weather, warm tins and tents: it must be festival season. To get you in the mood, and to celebrate Barnado's, Oxfam and TRAID all launching boutiques on ASOS Marketplace, we've put together two crowd-pleasing looks to showcase true vintage gear alongside the latest drops. Oh, and all the sales from each of the charities goes directly back to them so they can carry on the incredible work they already do.

Vintage

Pops of colour reigned supreme during the SS19 menswear shows with Lanvin, Dries Van Noten and Jil Sander all using bright separates for standout runway looks. For a vintage festival look in a 2019 colour scheme, just peep that vest-and-gilet combo. Ideal for keeping you cool during the day and suitably snug when the sun goes down and it’s time for the headline acts. Down below, pair with some joggers for a sporty 90s vibe (peep that abstract print) and to stay super comfy when you’re dancing from AM to PM.

Contemporary

2019’s festival aesthetic is all about taking inspiration from the late 90s/early 2000s. The statement shirt blends pastel hues with arguably the most 90s/Y2K print ever, so you can consider two trends nailed by just your shirt alone. Still not satisfied? Opt for some cargo-style shorts to get on board with the utility hype and top it off with a flight bag with reflective details. It stores your stuff and comes in handy if you lose your mates. Nice one.
