HOW WE DO NEW-SEASON ACCESSORIES
By Style Feed Staff, 16 March 2019
It’s all about the little things, you know? Specifically, accessories. If you’re looking for a low-key spring style update, refreshing your accessory game is a good place to start. With chunky sandals stomping their way through MSGM and Fendi’s SS19 runways, and utility cross-body bags at A-COLD-WALL* and Cottweiler, we thought we’d take a look at how our own ASOSers are adding the finishing touches to their looks this season.
With spring on the way, you might be thinking it's time to ditch the beanie and pick up your cap again. Before you do, it’s worth considering the humble bucket hat. With Fendi, Versace and Valentino all bringing the 90s staple back, it’s the headwear hero for SS19. Our Photographer Claud has placed himself in front of the lens for once to flex his 'fit. The floral hat is complemented by a punchy-in-pink top by skatewear connoisseurs HUF. And let's not forget those matching Vans Old Skool kicks either.
Babz, our Cultural Marketing Coordinator has kept things comfy with a streetwear-inspired, athleisure vibe. He’s teamed a pale-pink fleece from outdoor brand Columbia with some super-comfy adidas joggers and accompanying Yeezy 700s. For a standout take on the bum bag movement, Babz has opted for a printed one with multiple pockets. Ideal, considering festival season is rapidly approaching.
With utility styles reigning supreme for SS19, the easiest way to get on the hype is to cop a cross-body bag with more pockets than you’ll know what to do with. The harness-style piece our Content Writer Steven is sporting has so many compartments you can ditch that massive backpack for sure. He’s paired it with a simple black sweat, camel-coloured chinos and some Nike React Elements, which tap into the naturals trend very nicely indeed.
Socks and sandals. A fashion faux-pas of such magnitude, we scarcely even speak of it. Well, you can leave all those preconceptions at the door cos buddy, the contraband combo is back. And it comes with a sporty overhaul that successfully shakes off the look's questionable history. The trick is to take a cue from Nawal, our Artworker, and pick up a pair with neon, techy-style strapping. With some wide-leg trousers and a utility-style overshirt, we can see at least two trends nailed in one look. Welcome back, socks and sandals.
Charles, our Junior Project Manager, has kept his 'fit low-key AF, and for good reason. By keeping things coordinated up top and below with a black overshirt and jeans, he’s made the most of those colourful chunky trainers, ensuring that the sneaks are the focal point of his look. With overblown styles still coming through for 2019 and those neon overlays really poppin', it’s the perfect example of less is actually more. Bravo Charles.
