HOW TO WEAR WASHED-OUT TONES
By Steven Potter, 15 March 2019
Chaps, if you’re not feeling head-to-toe neon and you’re not quite ready for a snake-print shirt, we've got you. There’s another flavour running through the season, one that's made up the SS19 runways of Sunnei, E. Tautz and Lou Dalton and, TBF, it’s spring personified. Alongside the more neutral, beige hues of the season, bolder colours are getting the stripped-back treatment, too. Keep on scrollin’ for our three ways to wear washed-out colourful gear.

Abstract concepts
Colour is key for the trend, so this oversized shirt complete with abstract colour-clashing is a perfect place to start. The mix of lighter blues and stony hues tone the overall look down for a more relaxed vibe. Much like our man above’s lean against that wall. Pair with some washed-out jeans with a matching tonal belt, but make sure you tuck your tee in so your colour-coordinated tekkers are fully on display. Now, dadcore trainers are going nowhere for SS19, so cop a pair in a neutral palette to match the look. Some adidas Temper Runs will do nicely.

Staple update
This season, it’s all about broadening your colour choices and, thankfully, it’s never been easier. Take this washed-lilac hoodie, for instance. Swap out your trusty grey pullover for this and it’s a one-step update to your spring look. The denim’s gotta be washed out, sure, but that doesn’t mean you have to stick to your trusty stone-washed pale blues. Just peep these jeans in a tan hue for proof. For adding a touch of 90s-skater styling, cop a webbed belt and get down to that half pipe... or not, you know. To finish, some optic-white sneaks will ensure your ‘fit’s at peak freshness. Always.

Denim do-over
If you’re feeling like living a more colourful existence this season, well, buddy, you’re in luck. Check out that classic denim jacket updated in a bold, orange finish but washed-out for an almost sun-bleached vibe. If that’s not enough colour, pair with a pale-yellow tee for steezy lemon-sherbet vibes. Even sportswear’s getting in on the act with those lovely lilac joggers from Nike. Keep the athleisure hype going strong and cop a pair of Nike Zoom trainers complete with matching orange accents.
