5 TRANSITIONAL JACKETS
By Steven Potter, 11 February 2019
The transitional season is almost here. Expect wildly unpredictable temperatures, ranging from freezing in the morning straight into 'too warm for a coat' afternoons. These conditions can play havoc with your layering game, making it more difficult than it should be. So, we’ve selected five of the best transitional jackets to help style out the tricky climes ahead.

As it’s February, we’ll kick things off with a toastier option. Fleece has been a fuzzy favourite for a couple of seasons now due to it's warm and lightweight nature. Unleash the beast in this zebra design with a matching black printed tee to really bring out those accents. For staying cosy and comfortable, complete the look with relaxed joggers and Nike Air Max trainers. It’s almost Air Max Day after all.

Channelling a slightly fancier vibe, this check mac is your smart-casual staple that's suitable for work and play. What’s more, check is making a comeback for 2019, too. Wear with a black knitted jumper and tan-coloured trousers to bring out that subtle hue in the design. With smartness levels peaking up top, throw on some chunky black trainers to keep it casual – a pair of CAT Intruders will do nicely.

Adding an athleisure vibe to your look is always a good shout. Take this lightweight pullover from Tommy Jeans complete with neon panelling and that instantly recognisable logo. Make the most of that bright green insert with plain black jeans. To add a techy finish to the look, cop a pair of Nike React Element trainers with subtle neon highlights.

How can we talk transitional jackets without mentioning the classic denim option? A wardrobe staple since, well, forever, this indigo number from COLLUSION is updated with worker-style pockets that lend themselves to the utility trend that’s currently doing the rounds. Keep things practical and stylish with matching jeans ft. carpenter-style strapping. Opt for chunky boots in dreary conditions and swap them out for trainers when the sun makes a welcome appearance.

Corduroy had a big moment last year and the ribbed favourite doesn’t seem like it’s going away any time soon. Updated in a playful purple hue, this Harrington jacket would work with a plain white tee for maximum freshness and tapered chinos in a stony hue to really bring out the colour. Grab a pair of Vans Old Skool trainers to wrap the 'fit up nicely.
