January. The struggle is real. We know, you've heard it all before – detox this, cleanse that – but if there was ever a moment when it really counted (as the realities of winter kick in, and perhaps, the effects of post-Christmas take a toll), that moment is now.
ASOS Detox Grooming Tried and Tested | ASOS Style Feed

So, we’ve put George Nikolaou, our Culture Marketing Executive, on the case to test out some of the best detox skincare 2019 has to offer. From charcoal eye masks to energising, anti-fatigue cleansers, we've tried out everything you need to start January off right.
MasqueBAR Charcoal Hydro Gel Eye Patch | ASOS Style Feed

'I was dubious about wearing MasqueBAR’s hydro eye patches for a whole 20 minutes, but it ended up being worth the wait. Let’s just say I found this one a saviour when I'd been out the night before, since the combination of charcoal powder and coconut extract rehydrated my skin, while the gel-like eye patches were really cooling on my face, too.'

MasqueBAR Charcoal Hydro Gel Eye Patch, £2.99
Lab Series Oil Control Clay Cleanser and Mask | ASOS Style Feed

'Anything 2-in-1 always gets a thumbs up from me, so I was excited to try Lab Series’ hybrid cleanser and mask. The multitasking clay has a really thick, rich texture and, when I removed it with water after just five minutes, I could see a clear difference in my skin: deeply cleansed, purified and any excess oil had been removed.'

Lab Series Oil Control Clay Cleanser and Mask, £23
Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin Facial Sheet Mask | ASOS Style Feed

'There to help you unwind after a long day’s work, Dr. Jart+’s ceramidin sheet mask is the answer to dehydrated, dull and tired-looking skin. Since the hypoallergenic sheet mask is made of ceramides (the king of hydration in the skincare world) and natural fibre, it felt really soothing on my skin. The texture of the mask is also ultra-moisturising without being too sticky.'

Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin Facial Sheet Mask, £5.50
31st State Foaming Face Wash | ASOS Style Feed

'31st State’s foaming wash has won me over this winter. Fuss-free and easy to use, I just splashed it onto my face with water – the foam then lathers up really quickly and can be washed off as normal after a couple of minutes. It contains both soothing manuka and tea tree (to help reduce redness), which left my skin feeling energised but without any irritation.'

31st State Foaming Face Wash, £12.99
Clinique For Men Super Energize AntiFatigue Exfoliating Powder Cleanser |ASOS Style Feed

'Clinique For Men’s energising cleanser was a serious game changer: I added a small amount to my palm and mixed with water before massaging it onto my face. As it acts more like an exfoliator than a cleanser, it really unclogged my pores and removed impurities, even after the first use. I feel revived and awake, which, for the first week of January, is really saying something.'

Clinique For Men Anti-Fatigue Exfoliating Powder Cleanser, £22.50

Barber Pro Face Putty Peel Off Mask | ASOS Style Feed

'This is easily one of the best face masks I've ever tried, though initially, slathering a black liquid all over my face did come as a shock. It goes on really smoothly and since the cooling black gel isn’t too thick, it’s easy to peel off. Once removed, I noticed my skin looked a lot clearer (the active charcoal helps to exfoliate dead skin cells) and felt really clean.'

Barber Pro Face Putty Peel Off Mask, £4.95
