HOW WE DO TRADITIONAL KNITWEAR
By Lakeisha Goedluck, 3 January 2019
Remember the halcyon days of last summer when you lived in a striped T-shirt? Bring the pattern back but in a more appropriate form to fight off the cold this month. As our Marketing Graduate Josh shows here, the trick to styling a standout striped jumper is to keep your bottom half basic – a pair of black skinny jeans and white Converse trainers make for a nice, minimal finish.
From trench coats to sturdy lace-up shoes, Grandadcore is still going strong for AW18. Copy your grandfather and opt for a colour-block cardigan like the one that our Marketing Executive Steven is wearing here. To prevent his aesthetic from falling on the wrong side of retro, he teams his cardi with staple pieces: a white T-shirt, black slim-fit jeans and patriarch-approved polished shoes.
Ah, the trusty roll-neck. The one knitted style that’ll save you from having to throw a scarf on before you leave the house. Refined and ribbed, this jumper that our Junior Designer Seb is sporting looks best when paired with equally sophisticated slacks. Go for a pair of well-tailored trousers with side-stripe detailing for a touch of flavour, but chuck in some Nike Air Force 1s to keep your getup relatively casual.
Now, nothing says traditional dressing quite like an Argyle knit. In an assortment of colours, our Activewear Writer Steven layers his classic piece over a simple black T-shirt. Channelling the 90s grunge aesthetic, he rounds off his ensemble with a pair of light-washed jeans, black lace-up boots and a corresponding beanie.
