Wear this
With an average temperature that ranges from the low 20s in the winter to around 30 degrees in the summer (and that’s without taking the humidity into consideration), it’s best to just forget about layers. Instead, keep your ‘fit clean and versatile so you’ll look fresh whether you’re pavement stomping or cocktail sipping.
Up top, make a revere collar shirt (AKA Tony Montana’s other little friend) the main focus of your getup and pair it with bright white denim – jeans or shorts, you decide. Then, slip on some black sandals and complement the monochrome tones of your bottom half with a bag to hold your phone, wallet, sun cream, obscure candy that's only available in America – you know, the essential stuff.

Stay here
While there are plenty of reasons to check out the mainland city – neighbourhoods like the Design District, Little Havana and Wynwood (more on this later) – you’re going to want to stay in South Beach. And if you base yourself on Collins Avenue, somewhere around 17th Street, you’ll be within walking distance of enough spots to keep you busy for days.
Ignoring the 2.5 mile-long beach and countless swanky hotel pools on your doorstep, you’ll easily be able to stroll down to Ocean Drive, where you’ll find the Versace Mansion and the beginning of Española Way – a quirky Mediterranean-inspired 'village'. Or, if you’ve got a little room in your suitcase to spare and the urge to cop some serious streetwear, KITH Miami is up on the corner of 20th.

Alternatively, get a 15-minute cab across the I-195 and marvel at the Wynwood district. From the sublime street art that ensures every road is worth exploring (a good excuse if you get lost leading your mates around) to the lively open-air bars and eclectic food vendors, it’s just a total feast for the senses.
And if you’re in town to celebrate something special, or just want to gaze over Miami’s skyline from nine floors up with a mimosa in hand, then Juvia is the place to go. Besides the lavish living wall and atmospheric water fountains – your Instagram feed will really enjoy this restaurant – the food is, quite simply, sumptuous.
