3 NEW WAYS TO WEAR SWIM SHORTS
By Lakeisha Goedluck, 26 August 2018
If swimming briefs aren’t really your bag, you’ve probably got a fair few pairs of swim shorts as part of your summer rotation. Now, they may have served you well for all the pools and open water spots that you’ve ventured to this year, but here’s a top tip: they’re suitable for everyday wear, too. Feeling doubtful? Sea how to style them below (sorry).

Colourful swim shorts offer the ideal opportunity to go a bit out-there with your outfit. If you’re down for dressing in bold patterns, opt for a set of swim shorts like these camouflage-print ones from Obey. To curate a ’fit that’s technicolour but tasteful, choose a top that ties into the main colours of your shorts.

This Marni-style traditional knit jumper is the prime companion because it complements your bottom half without making your aesthetic look chaotic. Round off your getup with a cross-body bag, shades, socks and loafers for a suave finish.

Styling swim shorts for a life away from the beach can make you feel like a fish out of water, but a solid rule of thumb to follow is to dress as ostentatiously as you want – in other words, pile on the printed garms.

Revere-collar shirts have been in the sartorial spotlight of late, so go for one in a bold all-over print to stylishly clash with your swim shorts. As for the rest of your outfit, a black bum bag, high-tops and an on-trend bucket hat will have you festival/city break ready.

Now, if you ever been to a pool party or to a BBQ on the beach, you’ll know that the likelihood of actually going swimming is slim to none. So, you’ll need a getup that’s appropriate for your surroundings – and in this case, underdressed is the way forward.
