HOW WE DO: THE ASOS SUMMER PARTY
By Caroline Ferry, 12 August 2018
There are three things you could set your clock by when it comes to the ASOS summer party. First, that the day itself will be epic. Second, that the sun will scorch everyone. Every damn time. Third, is that every single ASOSer will really bring their stylish A-game. And these lads are no exception.

If at first glance you’re seeing all the decades when you look at this outfit, you’d be most correct. And that’s why it works. Go all one vibe and suddenly you’re in fancy-dress territory. It’s all about the well-balanced mix-up.

Gabriele, our International PR Assistant, has gone full 80s Riviera up top, while his bottom half is saying rake-ishly smart 90s emo kid. All of which we’re on board with. Trying it at home? Keep that short-sleeved shirt unbuttoned and untucked.

The striped top and ankle-grazing slacks could, on the wrong person, all look a bit gondolier – but here it actually really works. What keeps our Marketing Exec Steven’s look on the right side of Venetian boatman is a few sleek details.

The glasses and low-key Supergas are cool, that’s clear. The collarless tee is a modern and masculine update on the classic Breton stripe, while his trews are a smart-casual hybrid that, honestly, is just slick. Bellissimo.

If you thought that 90s hip-hop and 00s five-a-side were not compatible trends, may we introduce you to our Project Coordinator, Daniel. He debuted a dazzling shirt to the summer party this year, of which at last count there were 322 similarly steezy styles on ASOS. Did we mention short-sleeved shirts are kind of a big deal?

To keep his look feeling chilled-as and fresher than the Fresh Prince himself, he added some adidas track pants and matching socks, which along with his Vans undoubtedly came in very handy for the dancefloor portion of the night.

If you’re partial to an ironic slogan or logo tee, but in every other way are just not that eccentric with your summer party looks, let Warren, our Junior Fashion Editor, be your poster boy. So, you have a cool top, you might have even borrowed it from a mate once and never returned it, that’s OK.

But you wanna take it out-out. Give your jeans a day off and try it with your checks instead. Keep everything loose and aloof like our man here and you’re on to a winner.
