INSPIRATION AND ADVICE

LFWM SS19 STREET STYLE

From the adventurous mini-breaks to the plentiful pub trips that lay ahead, summer is always a fun-filled period. And for those who work in fashion, it’s an extra exciting time because it marks the beginning of a whole new sartorial season. This past weekend, the SS19 menswear shows kicked off in London. To mark the occasion, here’s a round-up of some of the best-dressed guys spotted in attendance.

In case you weren’t aware, colourful co-ords are still high on the agenda. An easy way to instantly up your style game, the key to rocking a standout matching set is to keep the rest of your ensemble fairly muted. Take this guy, for example: he opts for a berry-coloured, structured two-piece, worn with a classic white T-shirt. He really shows off his sartorial prowess by going for a pair of all-black shades and the much-coveted Off-White x Nike Air VaporMax creps.

For the past few seasons, side-stripe joggers have been ubiquitous among streetwear aficionados. However, this street-styler has decided to flip the script and go for trews with inside-leg detailing instead. He mirrors his bottom half by going for a bomber jacket with contrasting sleeves worn with a simple white tee. Accessories-wise, he goes full on – from the retro shades to his Western-inspired belt, this is a look that’s as striking as it is subtle.

Summer is all about referencing old-school aesthetics, and this fella has chosen to channel the 80s Riviera look. Donning a Hawaiian-print short-sleeved shirt, he goes with subdued colours for a minimal Scandi-style getup. The checked trousers add a refined, dadcore element to his ensemble, but he keeps his appearance chilled with a slate-grey tote bag (notice how it complements both his trews and his shirt), and a pair of worn-in Vans Authentic trainers.

Another street-styler down to champion the co-ord, this guy meshes 90s hip-hop tropes with skater steez so well. Picking a pinstriped set, he layers up with a sturdy gilet – a garment that, until recently, was often rebuffed by the fashionable lot. A pair of Nikes on foot, a slick five-panel cap and an of-the-moment cross-body bag really makes his look popping. Oh, and that skateboard – who needs a taxi to get from one show to the next, eh?

Football fever is in full swing, and this chap is clearly down to ride the (Mexican) wave. Choosing a checkerboard-print Off-White footie shirt as the basis of his outfit, he goes for corresponding white joggers with an on-trend emergency-orange stripe. Extra points for the fact that he’s managed to get chunky-soled creps to match. He finishes with a Kevin and Perry-style bucket hat and oversized shades combo.
