INSPIRATION AND ADVICE

STYLISH GUYS IN CROSS BODY BAGS

Ah, the bum bag. Once a sartorial mainstay for mums everywhere, it’s now become the must-have accoutrement to take your getup from relaxed to road-ready in no time. Typically worn across the body, take a look at how these street stylers have chosen to rock the unconventional accessory.

With an entire month of action on the horizon, now’s the time to stock up on football shirts. This guy expertly makes his 2013/14 Paris Saint-Germain home jersey the focal point of his ’fit, choosing to go laid-back with the rest of his kit. On his bottom half, he dons a simple pair of black slim-fit jeans and wisely goes for accessories to match. He pops on a pair of all black Wayfarer shades and slings a small bum bag across his body to complete his chilled, sportswear-focused look.

It’s no easy feat to pull off a head-to-toe tonal outfit but this guy does it with finesse. The key to this aesthetic is to go for a lighter colour up top and darker hues down low. This fella starts off with a beige polo shirt that he styles with a black leather cross-body bum bag for a slick contrast. To switch up his colour palette, he goes for linen-mix wide-leg trews in a caramel shade. On foot, he picks a pair of light-brown woven lace-up shoes to round off his minimal, Scandi-style ensemble.

It’s no secret that spring weather can be pretty unpredictable, so sometimes you’ll have to layer up accordingly. This guy staves off the cold with an AMI sweatshirt in a cool-grey hue, then teams it with a bum bag from The North Face before adding sportswear-focused accessories with a navy Supreme beanie. As his top half is fairly streetwear-lead, he chooses to go down a more refined route with the remainder of his getup. A pair of tailored black trousers and smart leather lace-up boots finish off his varied ’fit.

An aesthetic that’s set to be big this season is skatewear-meets-streetwear, and this chap’s nailed it. He kicks off his look with a plain white tee and black straight-leg trews – notice how his skater-style slip-on trainers feature the same colours. Next, he layers up with an obscure checked shirt to add some flavour to his ’fit, and then injects his ensemble with road-heavy accessories. A cross-body bag and a Carhartt WIP bucket hat make for the ideal streetwear-inspired final touches.

For SS18, 80s-feel short-sleeved shirts are the way to go (think Elio’s wardrobe in Call Me by Your Name). To go with his petrol-blue number, this guy’s chosen to wear a graphic-print T-shirt – which he dons with a khaki bum bag over the top to add some subtle contrast. Cargo trousers are still receiving a lot of hype this season, and this dude’s black pair nicely complement his tee. It seems that he also got the memo re chunky, granddad-inspired kicks, which add a slick utilitarian edge to his look (and, ironically, so does the plastic carrier bag he’s rocking).
