STYLISH GUYS IN STRIPES
By Lakeisha Goedluck, 5 May 2018
When it comes to his striped garment of choice, this guy has opted to take style cues from Where’s Wally. Captured at New York fashion week last season, he pairs his red-and-white tee with a pair of side-striped trews to play around with the pattern. To add further flavour to his getup, he throws in some ostentatious accessories – just take a look at that necklace, not hard to spot at all…
To get up to speed sartorially this spring, try mixing your streetwear cuts with slick skatewear pieces like this chap. The key to his look is the monochrome colour palette. His ensemble is predominantly black, but in ultimate skater fashion, he wears a white striped long-sleeved top under his oversized tee for some added contrast. That’s one fresh way to make sure your striped pick stands out.
A fresh take on the Breton tee, this chap has gone for a striped Guess Jeans T-shirt in a spring-ready palette. To tone down the orange and blue hues, he layers up with a fresh white Nike SB coach jacket – a neat way to introduce some simplicity and structure. On his bottom half, he opts for black jeans so as not to go too overboard with his look. A steezy lesson in stripes done with subtlety.
Styles from the 70s are still getting a lot of love for SS18. This guy clearly got the memo, pictured here in a retro-inspired revere collar shirt. Unlike the rest of the fellas featured so far, he’s chosen vertical stripes to serve as the defining feature of his outfit. And if you look closely, you’ll notice the complementary striped detailing on his trousers, too.
If you thought suits were strictly for formal occasions, guess again – this street-styler has managed to turn the traditional pinstripe two-piece into a laid-back bit of kit. For super-relaxed vibes, go for a suit that’s slightly oversized to alter your silhouette. To tone the look down, she pairs her suit with a slouched graphic-print hoodie and a cross-body bag to give her ensemble a slick, road-ready edge.
