NEW COLOURS FOR AW17: RED CHECK
By Lakeisha Goedluck, 10 October 2017
From tartan to windowpane, whatever your preference, it’s always a solid idea to have a selection of check garms in your year-round wardrobe. For AW17, it’s all about red check threads – commonly associated with the lumberjack aesthetic, but a feature of catwalks from Givenchy and Versace to Balenciaga and Dries Van Noten back in January. Try layering up with a piece in the pattern to increase your steez this autumn.

The trick to wearing a red check shirt is to capitalise on its boldness. So, to create a fit that’s striking but still harmonious, wear a graphic-print tee that incorporates the colours of your shirt. When it comes to your bottom half, go for relaxed trackies to counteract the more structured approach of your top half. Match your trews to your black T-shirt to keep your underlayer uniform and allow your shirt to fully stand out.
Accessories-wise, stick to the same colour. Opt for a black bumbag with red lettering to subtly reference your shirt’s red check print, but break the theme with your creps. Go for white Reebok Workouts with a gum sole to avoid overdoing it and keep your look fresh. To finish, rock a pair of clear gold-framed glasses to add a preppy vibe to your red-check-lead getup.
