INSPIRATION AND ADVICE

MFW SS18 STREET STYLE

This past weekend saw the penultimate leg of this season’s womenswear shows take place in Milan. The runways may have been female-focused, but the streets were rife with stylish guys out to display their standout ’fits. From neutral patterned co-ords to Louis Vuitton x Supreme flight bags, check out the fellas we spotted finessing fashion week.

Here in the UK, we’ve all accepted that summer’s well and truly over, but this guy’s lapping up the Italian rays on our behalf. Channelling Leonardo DiCaprio in Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet, he’s got his ostentatious floral-print shirt on with his torso fully on display. Extra props for the way his serious buzz cut and futuristic oval-shaped shades nicely counteract the delicate drapery of his top.

Looking at this guy, one word springs to mind: hypebeast. Streetwear has been high on the sartorial agenda for a while now, and this fella looks fully versed in the traditional tropes. An all-black tracksuit (Skepta would approve), matching cap and old-school Nike Air Max TNs make up this serious 'fit, but the pièce de résistance is of course that bright-red Louis Vuitton x Supreme flight bag. Jeez.

In case you haven’t heard, it’s now OK to wear a matching set if you’re over the age of 10. And if any outfit’s gonna encourage you to get on board with the trend, it’s this one. This houndstooth-print neutral co-ord is a minimal dresser’s dream – notice the AW17-ready wide-leg trousers. What a way to show that pale garms can be popping, too, eh?

When it comes to dressing for the crossover period, this guy’s got all bases covered. Up top, he’s wearing a stone-coloured knitted jumper and his transitional jacket of choice – light-wash denim. Down low, he’s rocking burgundy trews – a key colour for autumn – with subtle side-stripe detailing. He’s thrown his leather rucksack casually over one shoulder, showing how effortlessly he can master in-between steez.

It seems that side-stripe trousers still reign supreme, as this is the second pair to make the list. This fella proves his sartorial skill by matching the detailing on his trackies to his cherry-red military-style shacket. In fact, he’s championing utilitarian vibes all round – just look at those sturdy leather shoes with contrasting white laces. That’s one way to give your competition the boot.
