LFW SS18 STREET STYLE
By Sam Higgins, 23 September 2017
After New York set the tone and kicked off Fashion Week proceedings once again, the womenswear circuit moved to London for another weekend filled with fashion-forwardness. As ever, central London was a smörgåsbord of style, with the perfect blend of eccentricity and on-trend streetwear taking the headlines. Here’s the best of the stylish bunch.
Judging by his casual kit, this guy could have stumbled upon fashion week and found himself in front of the cameras by accident. But, actually, he’s just delivering the lesson to show-goers that simplicity reigns supreme. Sometimes, all it takes is a comfy combo of logo hoodie and straight-leg cargo trousers, and to pop on some bold, chunky-soled kicks, for your getup to be pap-worthy.
It must be autumn – the leaves are falling, the wind has more of a chill and fashionable fellas have evidently rummaged through their wardrobes for their lumberjack checks. That’s right, it’s shacket season. Here, it’s a fittingly orange-and-green-plaid print up top that earns his seasonal style points, but the addition of some tartan trousers and a bold, blue cap combine for an explosion of clashing colours. Strong.
This guy’s outfit is a game of two halves. His bottom half is really rocking the whole dad-in-the-mid-00s vibe, with ripped mid-wash jeans and worn-in leather boots perfectly complemented by a dangling belt strap. Up top, though, it’s very much 2017, with an acid-wash parka layered over a graphic tee and beige cross-body bag. It balances out, and to brilliant effect.
The temperature in the capital dropped over the weekend, providing the perfect conditions for street stylers to thrive. This guy especially embraced it, cosying up in a super-oversized hoodie. But it was the striped detailing on his cuffs, which pleasantly contrasted his vertically striped blazer, that really caught our eye. All that was left was to flip his hood up over his buzzcut and to roam elusively among the peacocking hordes like a style jedi.
