5 LIGHTWEIGHT TRAINERS
By Sam Higgins, 12 May 2017
Although your bulky leather high-tops have served you nobly over the past few months, the last thing you want in summer is to be stomping about in a pair of thick kicks. With that in mind, now’s the time to make your sneaker game more summer-appropriate. Here are five lightweight styles to help you make the switch.
Swapping out sweatier materials like thick leather doesn’t mean canvas plimsolls are your only port of call. More seasonal options like suede, lightweight mesh and textile uppers will also give your feet room to breathe, while offering a foundation for more technical details, too.
The adidas Originals EQTs, for example, not only boast a fresh, white upper to lighten your summery steez, but are accented by a pop of colour and extra structural detail. If you’re after more muted tones, opt for the beige-knit ASICS GEL-Kayanos or suede Saucony Jazz O trainers, which both offer maximum breathability and ultimate comfort.
The Nike Running Air Max 2017 is, as you can tell by the name, made for being active in – so its cushioned midsole and moulded foam support gives an unrivalled, feather-like feel. But if you’re a traditionalist when it comes to your kicks, give your feet a dadcore touch with the colourful ASICS DS retro OGs.
