3 NEW COLOURS FOR SS17

After months of monochrome, the sun has finally emerged and so too have our more summer-friendly threads. But if you’re looking to really shine sartorially this year, it’s not just about switching your jeans for shorts – perfecting your palette is also key. With that in mind, we’ve pulled together three new hues that’ll take your summer style to new levels.

Dirty pink

By now, you’re probably well versed in achieving pink perfection. But while we’ve seen pastel pieces slot seamlessly into Scandi-inspired kit and raspberry-coloured hoodies providing a bold burst of colour in street-ready steez, for SS17 we’re talking dusty tones. Offering a more pared-back option, rock powdery pink on a shirt and surround it with pieces that provide a tonal touch. A pink suede cap and striped quarter-zip sweater will nicely complement the hue up top, while, below the belt, throw on some blue jeans and a pair of fresh white kicks for a neat finish.

Purple

It was no coincidence that, after his passing, Prince’s signature palette of purple found its way into many designers’ SS17 collections. This high-end homage prompted the menswear mainstream to take the hue under its wing, with your favourite hoodies, denim jackets and even trainers getting a touch of the rich tone. For the more sartorially orthodox, deep purple isn’t too big a jump from trusty all black. Pair a purple denim jacket with a band tee, slick joggers and retro-inspired adidas kicks and you’ll achieve style smoother than a fine Merlot.

Sunburst orange

We’ve predicted before that orange would become the new black, but it's seemingly this summer that citrus hue will really bear fruit. Unlike subdued purple and pink, orange adds a zesty injection to your seasonal gear. The key here is to keep the surrounding palette earthy – a camo shacket, pair of brown trousers and matching trainers provide a understated foundation for the bright hue to shine.
