LFWM AW17 STREET STYLE
By Matt Glazebrook, 9 January 2017
It's a new season and new name for London's bi-annual menswear marathon, but some things stay the same. Specifically the fact that, whenever fashion week comes around, a bunch of dudes put on their best garms and loiter outside catwalk shows hoping to get snapped. Here are five of the most pap-worthy.
There's an argument to be made for the 1988-1990 West Germany shirt being the greatest international football top of all time. Channelling the classic black, red and gold zig-zag band design into an SS17-ready windbreaker is therefore, unsurprisingly, just swell with us.
Has anyone ever looked as simultaneously comfy and put together as this guy? The only time you'll ever see us in this amount of soft-textured fabric, we'll have one eye glued shut, hair all over the place and the morning's second cup of coffee spilled down our fronts. Whereas our fashion-week hero has here effortlessly elevated his PJ-worthy brown fleecy tracksuit with icy-fresh white sneaks, a blue wool overcoat and a mustard beanie for a final tonal touch.
Drapey wide-leg trousers, a drapey drawstring bag, nice powder-blue bomber jacket worn – of course – in a fashion drape. It's like planet of the drapes out here.
With his shiny black boots, excellent wide-leg black chinos, smart black backpack, sharp black overcoat , jaunty black beanie and shirt with just a flash of rebellious red, this guy's basically reinvented business-casual commuter-wear for the street-style set. He's going to want to turn around though, or he'll miss that bus.
The LFWM AW17 award for wearing all the trends at once goes to this fella. Puffer coat, black skater hoodie, Gosha belt, camo joggers, hi-tech reworking of classic sneakers (Jordan Horizons in this case) – it's all there. And the LFWM AW17 award for somehow making all the trends at once look steezy and natural? Also this fella.
