It’s been a banner year for pastel shades, which have filled our formerly monochrome wardrobes with some much-needed light. And the trend for all things pink, stone, beige and khaki doesn’t just apply to going-out gear – it works on lightweight sweatshirts, joggers and dressing gowns constructed from cosy brushed cotton and slubby jersey, too. 

As autumn sets in, equipping yourselves with a stash of washed-out loungewear in slouchy, oversized fits is the sartorial equivalent of stocking the kitchen cupboards with heaps of hot chocolate.
