NYFW SS17: Street Style

You didn't need to be an overheated Yeezy model in a flesh-tone unitard to get snapped wearing quality garms in New York this September. The NYFW SS17 women's shows were rife with dapper dudes loitering about outside, hoping to get a little menswear love from the hordes of fashion watchers. Here's who we spotted.

It's a classic fashion catch-22: your retro Tommy Hilfiger and triple-denim streetwear is so damn adorable that bae can't help but sit on your lap like you're some courting couple from the 1950s – but with bae sitting on your lap, it's harder for people to see your retro Tommy Hilfiger and triple-denim streetwear.

These days, model Michael Lockley seems to spend as much time flashing his blue steel for street-style photographers as he does on the catwalk or in the studio. Probably a bit of a busman's holiday for the lad, really, but with an off-duty look as strong as this artfully untucked and unbuttoned western shirt and blue jeans getup, what does he expect?

Luka Sabbat's another semi-pro street-style star, but it's hard not to include him in our roundup when he struts around New York in such an effortlessly laid-back grungy denim concoction. The ripped, faded jeans are pretty cool-kid standard issue, and the black-and-white graphic-print tee is a punky staple, but the patchwork, oversized denim chore coat is basically our new autumn jam (or it would be, if we were convinced we could pull it off with anywhere near as much steezy swagger as Luka).

Sometimes you don't need the entire outfit to know a guy is bossing the whole end-of-summer-in-New-York thing. Sometimes all you need to see is an ace green T-shirt with an expertly rolled sleeve, just the right slim-but-not-too-tight fit, and a cool 70s-style logo on the front.

'No, sorry, you've got the wrong number. No 1980s Soviet gymnastics team here. I'm just a fashion week guy looking super-fresh in an icy white retro Kappa tracksuit with red and gold trim… Yeah, don't worry about it. Happens all the time.'
