Tackling the most difficult of sartorial challenges and pulling them off with ease is an impressive feat, sure, but it can be just as impressive when someone really nails the fundamentals and achieves a lot with the minimum of fuss. We’ve taken a look at five of most stylish men who keep their outfits bare bones and know how to boss the basics.

We all know Becks could wear pretty much anything and make it work (such is his endless sartorial capacity) but his greatest style endeavours come when keeping everything uncomplicated and modest. Beckham’s effortless outfits are often a display of tonal brilliance or, like here, a lesson in how to nail a colourless kit by combining a knitted jumper and silky trousers with Louis Vuitton plimsolls. Without doubt, he’s still the OG basic boss.
Unlike the punk- and rock-inspired tendencies of fellow 1Der Harry Styles and ex-bandmate Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson prefers a less showy, more straightforward approach to style. Instead of sporting a DIY illustrated leather jacket or a sporadically buttoned floral shirt, Louis opts for impressive knitwear, skinny (and intact) jeans and classic adidas kicks on the regular to make up his signature simple style.
Although his career path requires him to show off some fashion finery from the highest sources, it doesn’t mean Luka Sabbat has to dress to the nines in eyebrow-raising style when he's off set, too. In fact, we’ve seen the young influencer manage to boss basics without even having to part with his designer threads – like here, throwing on a Raf Simons sweatshirt with an elementary pairing of black jeans and boots.
He may favour the boxier cuts and even, at times, go rogue by tucking his socks into his trackies but on the whole, Kanye’s signature style is composed of wearable, slouchy, monochrome basics. Here, you see him in his sartorial safe zone – a grey oversized hoodie and tee pairing up top with simple skinny jeans and Yeezy Boosts down below, to complete a casual, all-black bottom half.
To be fair to Scott Disick, if we were out in the Calabasas sunshine every day like him, we wouldn’t be in too much of a hurry to throw more clothes than needed, either. In recent times, this limitation on layering has seen the Lord produce some of his finest ‘fits. Is there a more simple combination than tee, jeans and trainers? We don’t think so – but Disick smashed these staples to nail another strong example of fuss-free finery.
