For SS16, Tommy Hilfiger has revisited its most iconic designs from the 90s and given them a contemporary twist. Inspired by the brand’s creative crate-digging, we’ve pulled together a few classic Tommy pieces from our vintage Marketplace boutiques to sit alongside the new capsule collection.
Tommy Hilfiger: 90s to now
By Sam Higgins, 21 May 2016
We’re in the midst of a tracksuit revival right now, and one look at the look's 90s sartorial forefathers shows exactly where it's come from. Block tonal colours, arm detailing and taping – all now regular features in the latest streetwear lines – can be seen on this retro Tommy track top. A pastel yellow short–sleeved shirt sees a rare breakaway from the brand's usual colourway, while a vibrant red windbreaker jacket reverts straight back to its bold, core aesthetic.
2016 streetwear is all about wearable, retro basics and that’s exactly what Tommy Hilfiger has delivered with its latest summer reworking. The signature Tommy Jeans logo that frequents its original designs has been brought centre-stage on oversized sweatshirts and tees, adding a simple, nostalgic touch to your getup. The brand has stayed true to its signature palette of white, navy and grey throughout the update, even on this year’s summer shoe staple – the sliders – bringing a fresh, youthful edge to Tommy’s classic cuts.
