2016: key trends
By Luke Keleher, 5 January 2016
We’re not suggesting you set all your threads alight and start again, but it is time to make room for the new styles set to rock your world – and wardrobe – in 2016. Here, the ASOS fashion team has rounded up its three favourite menswear trends to look out for and tackle head-on over the year ahead. Check them out…
The military trend may already have marched its way into our wardrobes at the end of 2015, but we’re looking forward to a full-on invasion of industrial-grade overshirts, cargo pants and utility detailing over the next year. Prepare for the arrival of a squadron of khaki and stone-coloured basics later this month.
Stripped back and minimal, this trend is driven by iconic Scandinavian style. With a colour palette comprising inky blues and calicos across denim and basic separates, we’re seeing the silhouettes evolve from skinny and fitted to oversized and boxy.
While women’s fashion has been hit (again) by a wave of 70s-inspired style, the era that gave birth to flares, fringing and florals gets a masculine twist for 2016. Using Woodstock as our starting point, this trend features textured layers in suede and leather, tasselled details and a solid foundation of ringer T-shirts and Chelsea boots for a powerful retro upgrade.
