Three ways: non-skinny jeans
By Gavin Jewkes, 15 September 2015
We’ve beefed up our offering of the fashion insider’s new favourite jeans fit. Yup, as of, like, right now, we’re the place to head for straight-fit styles – perfect for providing your legs with a day off from wearing your skinnies. And if you’re wondering how to pull off looser, roomier cuts, here are three mighty ways to wear them.
The cut for casual
Not only does a straight fit give you more room to breathe and move, but it allows you to do so in style. This charcoal pair is cut close enough at the thighs not to appear overly baggy, but the looser fabric at the knee and down the calf means they look relaxed and lived-in. Plus, they look great when you double up your denim and throw some longline shapes into the mix.
Dinnertime denim
The clean line on a pair of straight-fit jeans allows them to be smartened up almost as easily as a pair of tailored trousers. For a look that bridges the gap between casj and formal, throw on a pair with a longline white shirt and a chunky cable-knit jumper – always remembering that a hefty turn-up never goes amiss.
Night-out non-skinnies
At the heart of any cool club kid’s uniform is a pair of superior jeans. The straight fit offers a subversive alternative to the ubiquitous skinny jeans and adds an extra layer of interest to your outfit when styled up with a lightweight jacket and plain black T-shirt. It’s a simple look, sure, but a powerful one that will have you skipping queues and slinking into VIP without any trouble at all.
