Wimbledon's well and truly underway and what better way to pledge your allegiance to the great British (or French, but we won’t open that can of worms) sport of tennis than with a squeaky-clean outfit inspired by its spiritual home's dress code?

Head-to-toe white is a difficult one to pull off. For a start there’s the sustainability – that’s a lot of gleaming fabric, just asking for a dollop of jam from your scone to be dropped on it, or a scuff of mud to be smeared across it. But proceed with caution and you’ve got a fresh, summer-ready alternative to your go-to all-black look.

Start with a crisp, plain polo tee and layer a lightweight waterproof over the top – it's British summertime after all, and you never can be too careful. It also wipes dry, should said jam or mud try to interfere. On your bottom half, try some knee-length shorts and add breathable trainers to complete the look. Nice-to-haves include court-ready sweatbands should the sun make an appearance, a bottle to ensure you stay hydrated and an activity tracker to monitor the effort you’re putting into that sweet backhand (and/or Pimms-sipping wrist action) of yours.
