PFW SS16 Street Style
By Matt Glazebrook, 26 June 2015
From the flashy, designer-label-filled streets of Milan to the boho sophistication of Paris, the fashion week travelling circus arrives for another few days of menswear fun. The catwalk looks were strong, but we're focusing here on the dudes attending the shows (or just wandering past the venues in a cloud of oblivious cool). Check out five of our favourite SS16 street style shots below.
Is one of these guys really huge? Is one really small? Are they both just slightly different distances from the camera? These questions aren't important right now. What is important is whether or not they are wearing complementary-yet-inverted collections of relaxed monochrome streetwear, like some kind of real world/bizarro world two-man style #squad. The answer is: yes, they are.
This dude has all the swag: brand new adidas Yeezy Boost 350s, a fistful of no-doubt-front-row tickets for fashion shows, a whole load of extras hanging off his backpack. But what are worldly possessions without the poise and sense of individual style to turn them into a look? All the layers, unnecessary accessories, super-casj basics styled just right: that's money-can't-buy cool right there.
Another strong fashion tag-team here. Guy right is bringing the rock-meets-basketball, sawn-off Guns'N'Roses jacket and swaggy streetwear vibes to the table; guy left has more a more relaxed approach, letting his classic bomber jacket and face that looks a bit like Matt Damon's do the talking.
You know that thing where you're talking to someone, but you can feel them looking over your shoulder to see if there's anyone more important/influential/famous they should be schmoozing instead? The chap on the left is getting that sense, except here his companion is scanning the horizon for a less intimidatingly suave and put-together consort. When your summer smart/casj game is this on point, it's an occupational hazard.
Not much going on here, but what there is is absolutely nailed on. Lightly rumpled white T-shirt, round-lens sunnies, comfortable indigo denim shorts elevated with a turn-up, blue suede shoes, and satchel swung casually over one shoulder – it's relaxed summer style done with ruthless efficiency.
