It’s been a big week for Kanye West. He had to accompany his wife (and the most photographed woman on the planet) Kim Kardashian to the fashion world’s biggest annual shindig and not get totally upstaged by her basically see-through Roberto Cavalli dress. This he achieved admirably in an all-velvet tux but, away from the Met Gala red carpet, he was understandably keen to relax and dress down.
OUTFIT OF THE DAY
Outfit of the day #449
By Matt Glazebrook, 7 May 2015
When you just want to throw on your comfies and hit the street incognito (although obvs still stylish), an old band T-shirt is a great way to go. If it’s done the requisite number of cycles in the washing machine (or someone else’s, for vintage tees) it’ll be lovely and soft. And – unlike that similarly slouchy number you got from your work’s team-building away day four years ago – it’ll mark you down as super cool.
Kanye here is showing off his hip-hop cred with an impressively faded Tupac Shakur top (it’s probably an original he bought new back in the early 90s, like a true head), which he’s paired with a few classic Kanye staples: skinny grey jeans, his fave suede Chelsea boots and a hoodie. But pretty much any artist will work – from personal musical hero to guilty pleasure – when worn with the right amount of nonchalant swagger.
Have a rummage through the ASOS Marketplace or cop a fresh one below and start wearing it hard.
