STYLE ADVICE

Style Icon: Jeff Bridges

While the 90s has reigned supreme as the nostalgic flavour of the month(s) for the last couple of years, there's a new retro decade sneaking in to become a true competitor for your fashion attention in 2015 – the 70s. This means country classics like Western shirts, spread collars and lots of camel will all be back on your radar. To inspire you, we're throwing it back to Jeff Bridges' super-strong cowboy cool.

You may know the silver fox as the craggy-faced star of Tron: Legacy (or the slightly less craggy-faced star of 1982's original Tron), Bad Blake the worn-out country singer in Oscar-winning tear-jerker Crazy Heart, baldy baddie Obadiah Stane in Iron Man, or, of course, The Dude in cult classic The Big Lebowski. As Rooster Cogburn in True Grit, he rocked an eyepatch and grubby overcoat with aplomb, and it's this rough, tough, American anti-hero persona that's become his calling card.

But back in the day, when he was just starting out with the weight of a successful acting dynasty on his shoulders and some Best Supporting Actor noms under his belt, Jeff Bridges was much more fresh-faced. He still had that trademark mane and a beard many East Londoners would be proud to sport, but rocked them with all-American classics like this excellent black Western shirt with its diamond fasteners and 'I can ride a horse and you can't' vibes. Paired with a stone or camel jacket (maybe not the trousers – a full country-singer suit might be a step too far), it's a wearable look for spring which will show you're entirely in the fashion know. Thanks, Dude.
