Aspiring rockers take note: there are few easier ways of achieving instant boy-in-a-band cool than throwing on all-black threads. From Johnny Cash in the 50s to, well, Royal Blood now, guitar-slinging dudes have been armouring up in moody monochrome for decades. And for good reason – it'll take anything you can throw at it on stage and it looks equally stylish under nightclub lights as it does (with sunnies) in the unforgiving morning-after daylight.

Look at singer/bassist Mike Kerr here. The BRIT Award winner has donned a slim-fit black Western-style shirt, black jeans and a fine pair of black biker boots. It's a simple, effective uniform, with just a touch of rockstar flair in the form of the footwear.
