Your St Patrick's Day outfit
By Matt Glazebrook, 16 March 2015
It's a problem as old as the Blarney Stone. You want to celebrate your Irish heritage (or some tenuous connection to the Emerald Isle that only makes an appearance once every 17 March), but you don't want to sacrifice your reputation as a wearer of fire garms. Shamrock T-shirts and Guinness hats? Leave that shiz to the plastic Paddies and amateur-hour boozers.
Instead, we present a fully (yet subtly) green outfit that you can legit rock for St Patrick's Day – or any other saint's day, for that matter. There's a cable-knit jumper in a grown-up forest shade, skinny chinos in khaki and a smart lightweight Rains jacket that'll see you right if your revelling finds you outdoors in a downpour.
Add in army-issue slip-ons, a hunter-hued beanie and a practical, panelled backpack, and you've got a getup that works as a celebration of the old country on the DL, or a general outdoorsy ensemble suited to the coming spring. Sláinte to that, either way.
