Snapped while leaving the trendy (and difficult to spell) Balthazar restaurant in New York's fashionable SoHo, Beckham schooled us all in how to dress up smart. There’s the black suede Chelsea boots for starters, which he’s matched perfectly with a pair of cropped black trousers. This is a perfect example of how to wear boots in a formal situation. 

Then there’s the very simple (probably cashmere) black crew-neck sweater, which he’s worn under that long, wool overcoat – a coat that is (and we’re not exaggerating here) cooler than Batman’s cape.
