A$AP Rocky's style evolution
By Matt Glazebrook, 3 October 2015
When the man known to his mum as Rakim Meyers played Brixton Academy in 2013, he paid tribute to his host country by dressing in a hip-hop approximation of a 20s Oxbridge PE kit. Unsurprisingly, he looked on (chariots of) fire.
Things you need to look the absolute tops if (when?) you get invited to New York fashion fest the Costume Institute Gala: a crisp white dress shirt with a winged collar, sharp skinny black trousers, pointy ankle boots (polished to within an inch of their lives), a very cool three-quarter length tux/coat jacket and gorgeous supermodel Chanel Iman as a consort.
We've said it before – no one could look this cool and relaxed while eating a toasted sandwich unless he was fully at ease with the brilliance of his outfit. Old-school rap vibes meet cheesy, bready deliciousness.
If your girl won't indulge you by stepping out in a monochrome varsity jacket to match yours, show her this pic and see if she doesn't change her tune.
Lord Flacko’s been going big on stripes in 2015. From the sweet red and white Breton striped T-shirt from Japanese brand Unused that features in the video for comeback single L$D to this black-and-white number from a recent live show, it’s a classic look that Rocky has made his own.
