New Balance: winter trainers

At this time of year, when the pavements turn to a carpet of soggy leaves and frozen dog excrement, stepping out in a pair of flimsy plimsolls is, at worst, a death wish and, at best, a bit idiotic. 

With that in mind, it’s time to upgrade to something more substantial. But that doesn’t necessarily mean stomping around in a massive pair of boots; after all, the 'trek' to and from the shops isn't exactly a ramble across the rugged British countryside, is it?

Instead, invest in a pair of tough trainers, like these from New Balance. They come inbuilt with super grippy tread, comfy cushioned soles and, in the least annoying way possible, a vague air of the intrepid urban adventurer about them. Go for a pair in wine-red (a fittingly autumnal hue, agreed?), which look smart under slim fit indigo denim jeans and pretty much anything else you intend to wear this winter.
