INSPIRATION AND ADVICE

STAFF STYLE: #PROUDTOGETHER

What does #ProudTogether mean to you? 🌈 With our Pride Month celebrations going on all month (and IRL Pride parades not going forward this year) we knew we couldn’t end June 2020 without passing the mic to some of the LGBTIQ+ people we work with every day. The following lovely humans have shared what it means to them to be #ProudTogether – and, yes, provided outfit and makeup inspo, too. ✨ Shop their looks in the carousel at the end, or forever hold your peace!

My pronouns: he/him

To me, #ProudTogether means no one person left behind; it’s all-encompassing. It doesn’t matter your colour, your gender, or which letter of the LGBTIQIA+ acronym represents you, if any at all. It means that you’ll always have somebody in your corner! Fashion is super-important to me as it allows me to be confident and embrace who I am as a gay, mixed-race man. I love to wear clothes that make me stand out from the crowd or make people do a double take. In real life, I’d wear this outfit to Pride – it’s comfy yet fun and would wear well from the Pride parade... all the way to the after-parties 💫

I like to experiment with fashion and makeup, so I'm grateful to live in London and be a part of ASOS, where I have freedom to do so 💗 I wear whatever I feel like at the moment, whether it’s a sporty masculine hoodie and baseball cap look, or a smart feminine one with heeled boots and a crystal earring. As Gemma Collins once said, ‘I just wanna be me.’ For me, #ProudTogether means being accepted, supported and having the freedom to express my identity in various ways.

My pronouns: she/her

My style changes all the time depending on where I'm going and how I'm feeling. Some days, it's a cute dress, and others, it's an oversized tee and mom jeans. I love this statement COLLUSION shirt – I'd wear it to a gig or the pub with my friends 🙌 To me, #ProudTogether means celebrating our diversity as a community and embracing all the things that make us unique and special as individuals, and as a group.

SILVER, SOCIAL MEDIA ASSISTANT

My pronouns: they/them

My masc identity is interlinked with my presentation through clothing. Clothing is a big part of who I am, and therefore my freedom. I’m quite versatile and like to try new clothing for performances. I’m a drag King on the side, so makeup and colourful clothes (with rhinestones!) are a big part of it 🌟 To me, #ProudTogether means community. Especially in the current times, it’s particularly important that we stand up for our Black queer siblings and Black trans siblings and that we amplify their voices. It means being actively anti-racist in our LGBTIQ+ community.

My pronouns: he/him

#ProudTogether, for me, is about unity and community. It’s about celebrating all identities under the rainbow, loudly and proudly 🏳️‍🌈 I express myself in my clothes by playing with silhouettes, colours, fabrics and textures – I also try to ignore gender boundaries and play with both the masculine and the feminine. I would probably wear this outfit to an evening event; whether that’s a birthday dinner or a fancy date!
