INSPIRATION AND ADVICE

HOW SYDNEY DOES SNEAKERS

By Lucy Glen, 17 May 2018

The trend-setting masses have been descending on Sydney (and your social feeds) to catch the shows for SS19 and it's giving us ample inspiration for the months ahead. One trend we are seriously on board with is wearing sneakers with every outfit combination. From behind our sunnies (and camera lens), we spied the dad sneaker worn with printed suits and ruffled dresses, as well as the canvas kicks that took centre stage. So, here are five to feast on...

Top tonal

Top marks for this effortlessly chic layered look – with a special shout-out going to the rusty-dusty tones of the dress, coat and bag, which perfectly match the colours of the comfortable chunky sneaker.

Long live leopard

It's never not leopard-print season in our book, so seeing it at MBFWA was no surprise. However, the way this oversized coat is paired with a shimmery lemon jumpsuit and classic white technical runner is just genius.

A pattern's emerging

Never one to shy away from gorgeously loud looks, MTV host and Sydney-based DJ Flex Mami rocks every bit of her print-clash 'fit. Her choice of Nike Air Max sneaks means she can strut the streets at MBFWA with serious swagger.

Suits and sneaks

Opting for a pantsuit doesn't mean you have to go corporate. Nope, you can in fact have a really good play with textures, prints and accessories – just like wearing this logo-print two-piece with a pair of Vans Checkerboard Slip-On sneakers.

Pastel power

The clever proportions of the oversized blazer, polo-neck top and mini skirt make this outfit an immediate 10/10. Throw in some key pastel pieces (so fairy flossy) and finish with cool Nike kicks... So sweet.
